An Old Piedmont Friend With Ambitions
While I was prepared to be disappointed by oak-aged modern barberas, I was instead happily surprised at how harmonious many of them turned out to be.
Monti 1999 Barbera d'Alba ***
Classic barbera flavors, with excellent balance between fruit, acidity and a modest amount of oak. Ed McCarthy thought it a little too sweet and heavy. |
